Gennie Hartel's litigation practice includes all aspects of commercial litigation, with an emphasis on complex and class action litigation, international law, telecommunications and utilities litigation, public bid disputes, and contractual matters. She has defended and pursued claims in judicial, arbitral, and administrative proceedings before a variety of state and federal courts, state agencies, and private arbitration panels seated in the United States and abroad. Her experience in international litigation includes international arbitration under the International Chamber of Commerce rules.

- Representation of an incumbent local exchange carrier in lengthy, multi-forum dispute with competitive local exchange carrier involving claims under the Telecommunications Act of 1996, claims of breach of interconnection agreement, and state and federal antitrust claims, among others
- Representation of a large wireless carrier in complex, multi-state class action lawsuits involving disputes over call timing and billing
- Representation of an incumbent local exchange carrier in multi-state class action lawsuit by competitive local exchange carrier regarding the marketing and provision of optional services

- Representation of water and sewer company in right of way disputes; covenant not to compete litigation; territorial disputes with neighboring utilities and in commercial litigation with neighboring utility
